| International Student Health Insurance in U.S and Canada Posted: 03 Sep 2009 11:43 AM PDT Every country, particularly in U.S. and Canada, has different characteristic and mechanisms for regulation and rules to allow any student to get international health care insurance. Each country has its own complexity arrangement because of its bureaucracy and government regulation for the allocation of education and heath cost and budget for its citizen. Everyone knows that both United States of America and Canada provides high quality and technology educational system, particularly for allocating health care for students. In US, people pay for their care indirectly, through insurance or clinical organizations. In Canada, the government pays for health insurance in the form of taxes, so Canad does not provides a health maintenance organization, like in America. The health insurance coverage in Canada is so simple, their doctors get around to litigious society. For international students in U.S., they have to choose between health maintenance organization (HMO) and health insurance. It's nearly similar to Canada, though this country provides insurance option only. So Both of these country have the opportunity to meet with health student insurance, but not for international student health insurance. International students must pay their own medical insurance, though it can be assumed as expensive price. Before you come into United States and Canada to study, as international student, you must prepare yourself properly before leaving the system of health insurance in your country. It will be nice if you collect your medical records, prescription drugs, and proof of vaccination. These records will improve the transition to your health insurance provider in U. S. and Canada. You also must register in an HMO or health insurance, and then find a good doctor, a pharmacy and a dentist. For prescription drugs,t may take much time before seeing a doctor and have your prescription renewed or replaced, depending the analysis of doctor. Meanwhile, in all universities of each states in U.S. have their own requirements. For instance, In California, all universities requires that all students be immunized against Swine influenza because of Flu Pandemic and also requires students under twenty-one to be vaccinated against hepatitis B. |
