Cascading Popup Menus v5.2 RC4

Posted: 15 Nov 2009 01:26 PM PST

This is a fully JavaScript-contained menu system, and is quite possibly the smallest, fastest, and one of the most customisable JavaScript hierarchial menus out there. It supports nearly unlimited hierarchial menus with individual colours, styles, and dimensions — not just a boring old menu bar with one-level, one-colour popouts. Freeform cross-frames support and menu animation/effects are included as well. See the single-frame example file for a full feature list, or scroll down for downloads, compatibility information, and archived versions.

* Tested and Works: IE6/Win, IE5.5/Win, IE5/Win, IE4/Win, NS4/Win, Mozilla/Win, Opera7/Win, Opera6/Win, Opera5/Win, Safari 1.0/Mac, IE5/Mac, NS4/Mac.
* Untested, Probably Works: IE4/Mac, Mozilla/Mac, Opera/Other, Konqueror/Linux.
* Definitely Won’t Work in v3.x browsers. Make sure you account for older browsers or search engines in your site design!

AddEvent Manager : Javascript

Posted: 15 Nov 2009 01:18 PM PST

This can easily add multiple event handlers to an object, in all common browsers. It also stops MSIE leaking memory and passes the correct event object to handler functions, amongst many oither handy features!

* Tested and Works: IE6/Win, IE5.5/Win, IE5/Win, IE4/Win, Mozilla/Win, Opera 5/Win, Opera 6/Win, Opera7/Win, Opera 8/Win, Safari/Mac, IE5/Mac.
* Untested, Probably Works: IE4/Mac, Mozilla/Mac, Opera/Other, Konqueror/Linux.
* Does nothing in v3.x browsers, of course. It doesn’t include NS4 event model support by default, but you could add it with a captureEvents() call.

Photo Morpher v1.0 beta

Posted: 15 Nov 2009 01:06 PM PST

This is an XHTML based photo gallery viewer that morphs/fades between images. All photos and captions are stored in a standard < ul > list in the document, for excellent compatibility with old browsers. The script dynamically rotates through them with customisable controls including autoplay functionality.

* Tested and Works: IE6/Win, IE5.5/Win, Mozilla/Win, Mozilla/Mac, Safari/Mac.
* Tested, Mostly Compatible: Opera7/Win and IE5/Mac support the script but do not support alpha blending between images. IE5/Win works but doesn’t support padding well.
* Untested, Probably Works: Mozilla/Linux, Opera/Other, Konqueror/Linux.
* Definitely Won’t Work in IE4, NS4, Opera 6 and earlier. In these browsers, the script displays a list of links to images.

FreeStyle Menus v1.0 RC12

Posted: 15 Nov 2009 01:00 PM PST

This is an XHTML compliant, CSS-formatted menu script, designed to work with the current generation of standards-based websites. The menu data is stored in the HTML document itself (unlike other JavaScript menus) as either nested lists or disparate DIV tags, and the script manages the showing and hiding of these elements with customisable timer delays.

If you have a copy of a browser not listed as ‘Tested and Works’, please tell me if it works or not – thanks! Take these as a guide only, and be sure to test in all target environments.

* Tested and Works: IE8/Win, IE7/Win, IE6/Win, Firefox3.5/Linux, Chromium/Linux.
* Untested, Probably Works: IE5.5/Win, IE5/Win, IE4/Win, IE5/Mac, IE4/Mac, Opera, Safari, Konqueror.
* Maybe Partially Compatible: NS4/Win and NS4/Mac will display un-nested menu structures with the optional “NS4 Compatibility” segment of script included. This script is aimed at v5+ browsers though.
* Definitely Won’t Work in v3.x browsers. Make sure you account for older browsers or search engines in your site design!
