Binghamton University is ranked among the nation's top universities, according to the 2010 edition of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report. Binghamton university ranks 34th among public universities and colleges, this ranking is up from 37th last year, and 77th among all public and private universities. Last year, Binghamton ranked 82nd overall.

The annual U.S. News & World Report of Binghamton University ranking is based on a set of 15 widely accepted indicators of excellence. Each factor is assigned a weight that reflects the magazine's judgment about how much a measure matters. In its methodology, U.S. News considers academic reputation, retention, student-to-faculty ratios, student selectivity and alumni giving rate, among other factors.

The Binghamton University ranking in U.S. News & World Report ranking is the latest in a series of recent accolades underscoring Binghamton University's national reputation. The Princeton Review recognized the University in first-ever "Green Rating" of colleges and features it in its Best 368 Colleges listing.

In Forbes magazine, Binghamton University ranking is listed No. 11 among the nation's top public colleges. The 2009 edition of Fiske Guide to Colleges again calls the University the "premier public university in the Northeast," adding that Binghamton is "writing the rules on how to build global awareness and international programs into the curriculum."

Regardless of current Binghamton University ranking, Binghamton University has built a reputation as a world-class institution that combines a broadly interdisciplinary, international education with one of the most vibrant research programs in the nation.
